Winemaker’s comments

The very successful 2001 Narkoojee Chardonnay was also from this vintage. 

The grapes were picked quite late in the season on 21st and 25th April, the vintage being interrupted by rain.

The colour is dense, dark plum with crimson showing on the edges. The bouquet is a heady scent of blackcurrant and plum with overtones of chocolate and black pepper (think Ribena!). The flavour is sweet blackberries, cherries and plums and the texture is of soft tannins and spicy oak with a long, mouth-filling finish. After bottle ageing this wine is drinking very well now and will continue to develop over another 3 to 5 years.
