Cannibal Creek
2001 Pinot Noir
Winemaker's comments
The
wine was matured in French Oak, giving it a terrific balance and
structure, more typical of 'Old World' pinots.
Strong
cherry and violet aromas dominate the nose, leading to a lush
palate bursting with redcurrants and oaky hints from the barrel
ageing. Soft tannins lead through a very smooth finish.
Drink
now, but don't be afraid to lay this down for several years to draw
out further 'oakiness'.
It is claimed by some (not us!) that good Pinot
Noir cannot be made in Australia - try this and find that sentiment
to be wholly erroneous.
